Proposed budget for Japanese Cultural Club’s display-cum Presentation
Items that is needed for the Tea Ceremony
Chawan (Tea Bowl, need about 20, if possible 30. This is to serve the guest tea. ) $15(ebay, excluding shipping), $40-80+ (Authentic from Takashimaya)
Kaishi (serving paper) $2 per packet, need 3 packets.
Fan (To greet guests) $10-$30
Natsume (Tea Container) $60-$80
Chasen (Whisk) $15-$30
Yukata $80-$100+ (excluding obi belt)
Obi Belt (for Yukata) $30+(cheap) $50-$80 is for proper.
Kimono $220 onwards. For female version, it is more.
Chashaku (Tea scoop) $10
Chakin (Cloth to clean Chawan) $5 each (Need 2)
Fukusa (Ceremonial Cleaning Cloth) $50 From Urasenke.
Mizukashi (Water Container) $100
Hot Water Container $120+
Stove (to heat water continuously) $30
Kensui (Waste water receptacle) $60
Hishaku (Water scoop) $20-$30
Fukoki (Small stand to put Hishaku on) $20

Perishables
Tea Powder $15per container. For guest list of 110, need 3 containers. Price is also dependant on grade of Tea, for which this is one of the cheaper variety.
Okashi (Sweets and Titbits for guest.) This is a small “refreshment” served to guest to eat before drinking the tea. Depending on Okashi used, price per piece range from $0.35 (cheapest, but the result was not good, too sticky) to over $8(Authentic Japanese okashi)
Setting
Tatami mats. Smallest is usually a 4 ½ tatami mat size. Tatami mats are 180cm in length, 90cm in breadth, and 5cm in height. USD125 per mat.
